Nepheli Barbas
NEPHELI BARBAS, 1990, lives and works in Paris.
She studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de la Villa Arson in Nice and did an Erasmus exchange at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Néphéli Barbas’ drawings, objects, sculptures and installations break down and fragment the structures, architectures and images that make up reality. This stratification allows her to represent significant elements of an economic and social context in a distanced manner. She thus studies a visual aspect of the urban environment, which would be the identity heritage of a neighborhood or a city, cultivating in her installations an ambivalence between a global vision and a meticulous inspection of the terrain, between architectural planning and botanical evolution.
She has recently exhibited her work in spaces such as cheLA, in Buenos Aires, the University of the Andes, in Bogotá, the Contemporary Art Space of Montevideo, the Tignous Center in Montreuil, JULIO artist-run space in Paris, PRÁM, in Prague, and with AGUAS at Untitled, Miami Beach. She will soon participate in the 69th edition of Jeune Création, in the Fiminco Foundation in Romainville.
